Song without a Chorus by Butch Walker
God I hate this place some days. This infantile exclusvity of the bullshit boggles my mind. The sort of neanderthal sense of leaving those that would dare say you might be wrong, leave those fuckers right out on the street. And cut the friendship you thought you might have, just cut them right to hell to fit in.
The smart chick heidi made the point that they are all misfits who cannot make it in a bigger town. I am sure that is true. But I can make it in a bigger town, and I want to be here. I want to help out, and I feel like I am being froze out. LIke I cannot be the voice of dissent without anyone just kicking me off the team. Sending me back to weston to look at my back yard with disappointment.
But I give it away to the universe. I really do. I think the choices I made, while brave, led me to nothing. Nothing embraced me, and that is that. It is shitty to want someone to acknowledge what you did, but man I think I would think that my motives have been pure. I never took a check in both directions like Lance did, I never asked to be a consultant. I just wanted to help out.
But this weekend was amazing in its own way. I have decided that my favorite bands to ever play Scott Street during my time, not counting Holt…
1. I Love Ghosts…I think that they are simply the most creative thing I have seen there. Recently Wendy turned me onto Butch Walker, and Butch Walker is what I feel like. Butch Walker and Pink Floyd. So amazing.
2. SUNSPOT…the most greatest rock and roll machine to take the stage like a wrecking ball of energy ever. I mean it simply did not ever get higher for me than the three of them. I thought for a while it was the cool person playing drums, bounching around…but I think I have decided that it is actually Ben. As Ben goes, so goes the show. It is strange. So many good times with Sunspot, the only band I ever went to an after party to hang out with. And the coolest part, every one of them is a smart person, not a moron musician.
3. STALL. I think Stall ended up 3 because of something that happened after a show once. It was just a little bit too crass and rough for me, and I sort of felt really let down by the thing coming out of someone s mouth. But the good thing is it was not there mouths, it was one of there friends..and it was funny that it was a shitty night and that was all it took. But I think that the album, Very Donna, is the best record from these three cats.
I Love Ghosts played this weekend. I am writing about it for the paper, and it was great to be there. I had not been in the pub since the last naked Sunspot show…and this night I was there, and a fight broke out and I got to be involved. A guy told me he respected me. That made me so proud.
I wish I did not sleep alone each night.
I think you have so much more talent.
I think Heidi needs to write for Wausaublog, and redo the graphic image of that joint.
I know girl in bama, and she is cool.
